Snack Size Update...

Hello fellow creatives! There's not much to share in terms of mini progress this week, but Goldie and Roz asked to pop onto the blog today to share the photo of their apron fitting. They are both so excited to have so many aprons to choose from and can't wait to get cooking!

Our backyard project went great last weekend! Though we still have much more to do, we made amazing progress! We moved and compacted 20 cubic feet of gravel, mixed and poured 46 bags of concrete, got metal posts anchored and had a great time with the kids! By next spring we hope to have a level yard, nice new grass, a gravel easement all the way around the fence (for weed and blackberry bush control) and will never again worry about the fence panels blowing away in the winter wind storms. Thanks so much Tasha, Brent, Ande and Lex! We could not have done this without your hard work!

Now that the schedule is returning to "normal", big progress is also being made for Roz's kitchen! I hope to be able to share it all next week!

Stay cool my Northern Hemisphere friends! We've almost survived the hottest summer in recorded history and will soon feel the relief of fall!

xo xo,

Jodi

  1. What a pair! The aprons are perfectly purple and the girls will have many adventures in the kitchen. I wonder what they will cook up first? Some porridge perhaps? Sounds like quite a backyard project, too. And in the heat. It is August. Be cool.

    1. Thanks Ann! I wonder, too, but porridge is a likely meal from Goldie! The backyard project was on the low priority list for years until a January wind storm blew several sections of fence down and moved it up. While we were fixing the sections, we figured we might as well make the improvements, too. And make sure the wind was never again a threat. Thank goodness we could get everyone's schedules to agree, and thank goodness it wasn't the week the temps were in the high 90's! There's more to do before fall, but some will have to wait for spring.

    1. Thanks Shannon! It will be nice not to have to mow up and down a steep hill any longer, but it is a lot of work. Luckily, our family is one that helps one another when physical labor is required, and we all really enjoy each other's company! As to the mini to-dos, tasks are getting crossed off, its been fun and Roz is happy with how tings are coming out!

    1. Gracias Pilar!

  4. Hi Jodi! Roz and Goldie look so happy in their aprons! I can't wait to see what they "cook up"! And with her apron on, Roz looks like such a sweet Grandmotherly "Fairy Godmother"! And I'm so glad to hear the weather cooperated for your Yard makeover! What a lot of work you got done! Bravo to the helpers!!

    1. Thanks Betsy! They are so happy to see my promises kept to them, if a little longer than they hoped! Roz really does share all the best traits of grandmothers, and boy does Goldie need them! We could not have asked for a better weather window for the yard work, especially considering that it was in the 90's the week before and we have thunder and rain passing through now! Good deeds really do reap rewards for our amazing volunteer helpers!

  6. Is it just me hearing that song from Pink now? You know... "I'm comin' up so you better get this PORRIDGE started..." What do you say? That's not the right text? Huh, but the two girls in their stunning aprons do look like they're getting a party started right now. And the big advantage fairy bearies bring along is that if you should be too stuffed and too lazy not willing to move anymore after a delicious meal it's just one wink with the wand and the kitchen is clean again.

Wow, what a family project!!! A big project with all the benefits you were mentioning... but also a wonderful project bringing the family together. I know you spoiled them with the most delicious meals after/during their hard work... but I'm not so sure if you were wearing an apron as beautiful as Goldie's and Roz's... ;O)

    Hugs

    1. Lololololololol! I love it! It's the perfect song for Goldie! And a clean kitchen with the wave of a wand??? Where do I sign up??? As for my cooking.. I do A FEW things well, but I wouldn't say I really enjoy cooking unless the kitchen is full of people and fun. If it's just me an Russ, I don't try too hard but he is easy to please! 😝 I had a nice apron once but I always forgot to wear it. I gave it to Tasha, lol! Hugs!

    1. Gracias mariana! ¡Hacer delantales es un mini proyecto de tela que realmente disfruto! Afortunadamente, el clima se ha enfriado, ¡pero todavía podemos ver el cielo azul y el sol!
