Vanity Fair

I guess announcing that the last five vanities are up for auction on eBay is itself a form of vanity. Something to ponder...

Nevertheless, they are, and once these are gone, I expect I won't make any for sale again. It's been interesting, fun, educational, but sooooo much work!

These are the last five:

There are lots more photos of each in the listings, bidding started at $.99, and here is the link:

Meanwhile, I'll leave you with a peek at what I decided to work on next for the Storybook...

Back in a couple of days with a real post! :O)

~Thank You~ !!!

I'd like to thank everyone who took a gander at last week's vanity auctions on eBay!

~ Thank You~ !!!

I am happy to say that all five sold, and four are on the way to their new owners! It is so exciting to know that something I made is going to live on in other dollhouses! What could be more flattering than that? :O)

Here are this week's grouping of five. The bidding started on Sunday with an opening bid of $.99. Even if you don't need a vanity, it's fun to watch the bidding!

White Marble

Old West Hotel

Nautical

Shabby Pink Bucket Sink

Contemporary Square

Here's the link to the page with all of them:

These end, and then the last group of five auctions will begin on Sunday.

I hope to be back on Thursday with an update on the cabinets for the Storybook's kitchen. Here's a sneak peek at what I'm working on...

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Vanity Project Ta-Done!

After three months of exploration I am happy to report that 16 of the 29 vanities I had plans for are completed! The other 13 are going to have to wait for a while - I am eager to move on to something else...

There are a lot of photos, and getting them was a real challenge. I have a long way to go in my photography skills, but I'm learning as I go. The doll in the photos is a Heidi Ott. She is 5.5" so you get a better idea of the scale of everything.

Each set has varying components such as sinks and faucets, some purchased and some created. Some units started as barewood washstands and some were various Bespaq bargain basement pieces that I modified and refinished. Four of them, including Sam's, I made up myself from basswood and findings. The accessories include hemp cord baskets with fabric liners, candles on pillars, flowers in vases, soap pumps and rolled towels. Some have drainpipes, some tissue boxes. I learned so much about what works and what is fussy, what to avoid and how to improve. It was an intensive study, but a worthwhile pursuit. What I'll do with them all I am still not sure. For now, they are carefully packaged and stored away in my grandma's art deco hutch.

The Petite Square

The Grand Square

The Grand Round

The Crosshatch

The Classic Black

The Classic White

Double Black Granite

Double Glass Door Marble

Nantucket Bucket Blue

Nantucket Bucket Gray

Nantucket Bucket Pink

Old West Hotel

The Hacienda

Mermaid I

Mermaid II

Sam's

I am also happy to report that Sam's package is on it's way to the land down under! I can't wait to see photos on her blog when she's got it all set up! It's going to live in the basement tenant's apartment that she created in her San Fran 555. It's a neat project, so if you haven't already, check it out!

What's next? An intensive spring clean is going on here for the next week or so, then back to the New Orleans, I think. Right now, it's just nice to see my workroom all clean and tidy again!

Happy Spring,
Jodi
